The Basics:
A shaker is essential. Barfly makes this one that is super reliable and comes in a billion colors.
A jigger is the standard for accurate measuring. OXO’s rubber grip jigger is my pick for being accurate and preventing spills.
A hawthorne strainer will keep out big chunks of ice, which is all you really NEED for a home bar.
But if you want to keep out citrus pulp and ice chips to get a smoother product, a fine mesh strainer will take you the extra mile.
Barspoons are specially designed for stirring. The twisted handle and counterweight are night and day compared to stirring with anything else.
A citrus juicer will increase your yield and lower your waste with lemons and limes. It will also dramatically reduce the risk of looking insane compared to using your hands.
You don’t REALLY need a mixing glass, you can just use the small tin of your shaker. However, a glass like this with a weighted bottom is a little more tip-proof, and gosh does it look good.
